COLUMBUS, GA. — A spectacular day of weather was the final requirement for a great day at the airport with friends and family. The CAF Red Tail Squadron with their unique tribute to the Tuskegee Airmen was part of the lineup for the Thunder in the Valley Air Show, April 8 and 9 at Columbus Airport. Be inspired by the Tuskegee Airmen – the nation’s first black military pilots and their support personnel – with the CAF Red Tail Squadron’s RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit mobile movie theater and World War II P-51C Mustang aircraft.

AMVETS were well represented and signed up around 40 new members. We will announce the total number at our next meeting.

Thunder in the Valley provides financial support to our area Youth Groups

Not only the air was filled with aerial excitement, local youth groups are excited are about financial benefits from the Air Show. Lord knows these youth groups could use the help.

Eight youth organizations in the Chattahoochee Valley will be presented with donations totaling $57,000 for the 2016 Valley Air Show.

The Thunder in the Valley Air Show also provides fund-raising opportunities for youth groups through the operation of air show concessions, carnival activities, and other needed duties, and tickets for youth groups. Wounded Warriors and trainees fro Ft. Benning, enabling soldiers and underprivileged youth to experience the show. $14,700 in contributions and ticket were donated to 12 youth groups and 860 soldiers, bring the total contributions to area charities and causes to $71.700. Wow!

This year’s Air Show was an all round success.
